Parents & Carers

SAYiT runs a support group for parents, carers, and other adult family members of LGBTQ+ children and young people. We understand that they may need support, too, and those who attend the meetings often don’t know any other parents or carers of LGBTQ+ young people and feel alone in their experience.

Our group is a safe space to talk and listen, and to receive and offer support. The meetings are quite informal and they are facilitated by a dedicated SAYiT staff member. Each session has a different focus or topic for the group discuss and share experiences about. We sometimes invite external speakers with expertise in different areas of LGBTQ+ young people’s wellbeing and physical and mental health.

The meetings run monthly on a Tuesday evening in Sheffield city centre. If you think you would benefit from attending this group, please email us to find out more via info@sheffield.ac.uk.
