SAYiT Open Day to commemorate World Aids Day

The sexual health and wellbeing charity opens its doors to the public and invites you to join them in the fight against HIV

SAYiT welcomes you to a showcase of their work at their OpenDay at Scotia Works on Leadmill Road on Saturday 1st December 12.30 – 4.30pm.

SAYiT works with young people and professionals to make real lives better. The charity provides practical support around LGBT+ life, sexual health, HIV and mental wellbeing, while their training helps organisations improve knowledge and address discrimination. SAYiT invite you come along and meet the team to find out more about the services provided. It will be a great chance to interact with the LGBT+ community whilst enjoying a pop up shop, live DJs, a mocktail bar, games, fun activities and a raffle!

This event will also be a commemoration of World AIDs Day and there will be space to reflect and pay respects to all those affected by HIV and AIDS. In the UK alone over 101,000 people are living with HIV. This figure extends to 36.7 million people directly affected globally. SAYiT will be showing support and solidarity for all people living with HIV and will commemorate those who have tragically died through AIDS-related illnesses.

Chief Executive Officer, Steve Slack, says “SAYiT is proud to host our annual open day and we are all very excited to showcase the work we do in the city. It is also significant that we have chosen to host this on World AIDS Day as it serves as a reminder that HIV has not gone away and we need to contribute to awareness raising and fighting the still rife prejudice surrounding the virus. Moreover,we need to highlight the impact of cuts to Public Health which mean that there are fewer campaigns raising awareness around safer sex and people are increasingly finding it difficult to access timely sexual health testing.’

If you would like to get involved, you can wear the World Aids Day red ribbon on the day.
