Following funding from Central Government, and support from Sheffield City Council, an exciting opportunity has arisen for two committed workers to support LGBT+ victims of domestic abuse in accessing refuges/safe accommodation and ensuring that any support offered is appropriate and sensitive to their needs across South Yorkshire. The development workers will be expected to increase the number of LGBT+ people who are aware of Domestic Abuse as well as ensuring service providers are more aware of the specific issues affecting LGBT+ communities.
We are seeking two passionate and enthusiastic development workers who are committed to partnership working with other agencies and engaging collaboratively with LGBT+ people. You will be passionate about developing creative initiatives in order to reach LGBT+ people who may be further disadvantaged by economic inequalities, disabilities or identifying as people of colour. We want to attract workers who will take creative and transformative approaches to working with LGBT+ people as well as being able to work with services in improving their offer to LGBT+ communities impacted upon by Domestic Abuse. Ultimately, the post holders will aim to increase the numbers of LGBT+ people accessing domestic abuse services as well as feeling empowered to be more open about their sexuality and/or identity when accessing those services.
Type of contract – Fixed Term contract to 30 June 2020
Hours – 37.5 hours per week (two posts)
Salary – £24,730 Per Annum Pro Rata (JNC 14)
Benefits – 7% Employer pension contribution
