Category - Youth Work (LGBTQ+)
Organisation – SAYiT
Job Title - Youth Worker (participation and engagement)
Brief Job Description –
The charity SAYiT has been proudly supporting LGBTQ+ young people in Sheffield for over twenty years.
Following a comprehensive review of the services we provide, we have recognised the need to focus more on developing young people’s leadership skills and enabling them to build a greater sense of empowerment – whilst continuing to offer access to traditional support groups and one-to-ones which our young people tell us they still need.
Many of our young people experience complex issues such as mental health difficulties due to LGBTQ+ phobia and discrimination.
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic youth worker who is committed to working collaboratively with LGBTQ+ young people and to engaging with harder to reach LGBTQ+ young people who are further disadvantaged by economic inequalities, disabilities or identifying as people of colour. We want to attract a worker who will take creative and transformative approaches to working with young LGBTQ+ people up to the age of 25 years - working with them to identify, focus upon and build on their strengths and assets.
