A few weeks ago one of our youth workers headed down south to attend the annual London Trans+ Pride (LT+P) March in Central London. LT+P is a grassroots trans-led community organisation that have been running these marches, distinct from London Pride, since 2018.
Reflecting on the experience, Xena said:
“To be able to go to this year’s London Trans+ Pride march was amazing. The atmosphere was absolutely incredible and the event was a far cry from the amount of corporatisation that we now see with most mainstream pride events, which felt a lot more true to the origins of Pride. It was awe-inspiring to see so many people from all over coming into London specifically for the march; and to be around that many trans and gender-diverse people and allies in one place was a radical and electric experience. We were told afterwards that attendance had been confirmed at over 60,000 – making it the world’s largest march for trans rights ever; which felt incredibly special to have been a part of.”
